Data deletion

How to stop messages and delete your data.

Last updated: July 2026

This page explains how to stop receiving messages and how to have your personal data deleted from systems operated by Signal Proptech Ltd (“Signal”, “we”, “us”).

Who this covers

Signal provides software used by estate and letting agents to communicate with home buyers, including over WhatsApp. If you received a WhatsApp message from an estate agent that uses Signal, or otherwise had your details processed through our platform, this page applies to you.

Two things you can do

Fastest

1. Stop messages now

Reply STOP to any WhatsApp message you have received. You will be opted out immediately and will stop receiving further messages. This does not delete data already held — to do that, use the request below.

2. Delete my data

Email support@signalproptech.com from, or quoting, the phone number or email address used, and ask us to delete your data. You can also make the request to the estate agent you were dealing with. On a verified request we will delete the personal data associated with you, including your lead record, message history, buyer profile and related activity events.

What happens and how long it takes

We may first take reasonable steps to verify that the request comes from you, so that we do not disclose or delete someone else’s data by mistake. Once verified, we complete deletion without undue delay and in any event within 30 days (extendable by up to a further 60 days for complex requests, in which case we will tell you). We will confirm to you when it is done.

What we may keep, and why

The right to erasure is not absolute. Where the law requires or permits us to retain certain records, we keep the minimum necessary and isolate it from active use:

  • Proof of deletion. We keep an immutable log entry recording that a deletion took place. This entry identifies the phone number only in hashed form — not the number itself — so we can demonstrate the request was honoured without retaining your contact details.
  • Anti-money-laundering and identity records. Where an identity or source-of-funds check was carried out, we (or the agent) are required to retain those records for a statutory period — generally five years under the UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and the Irish Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010. These records are retained only for that legal purpose.
  • Legal claims and obligations. Limited data may be retained where needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or to comply with another legal obligation.

Who is responsible for your data. For buyer data, the estate or letting agent is usually the data controller and Signal acts as their data processor. You can send a deletion request to either the agent or to Signal — if you send it to us, we will act on it and, where appropriate, coordinate with the agent.

Your other rights

Alongside deletion you may have rights to access, correct, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and to complain to a supervisory authority — the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK, or the Data Protection Commission (DPC) in Ireland. For full detail, see our Privacy Policy.
